Kathmandu: Nepal's first democratically elected Prime Minister, BP Koirala, was honored for his contributions to democracy and the parliamentary system during a special program held in Kathmandu on Monday, marking his 111th birth anniversary.

The event, organized by the BP Congress Central Committee, featured prominent speakers from various sectors who reflected on Koirala's ideology and unwavering commitment to democracy. Among those present were party chairman Sushil Man Sherchan, former minister Keshar Bahadur Bista, Prof. Dr. Surendra KC, former ambassador Hiranya Lal Shrestha, and former lawmaker Arjun Baral.

The speakers emphasized BP Koirala's vision of nationality, democracy, and socialism, highlighting it as a cornerstone for Nepal's future development. They noted that Koirala's ideas remain relevant today, particularly in addressing national concerns through constitutional amendments.

Additionally, the need for enhancing national production, modernizing agriculture, and generating employment within the country were key topics of discussion, with the participants echoing BP's long-standing advocacy for these issues as essential for Nepal's progress.
